VAN CLEEF & ARPELS Province Ruby Bombe Earrings in 18k Yellow Gold.
A bejeweled pair of retro-style earrings by Van Cleef & Arpels exhibit a design emblematic of the Maison: the domed voluminous forms of ‘Pelouse’ (in some books this look is also referred to as ‘Lawn’). Faceted gemstones in a continuous bombé shape are brilliantly mounted in yellow gold prongs. Province-style angular geometric stripes are intermittently painted with white diamonds throughout, offering breaks of color within dimensional crimson. In addition, the convex nature and varied clarity of the gemstones capture light capriciously. This further enhances the shade and depth of color within this Van Cleef & Arpels Province Ruby Bombe Earrings. This innovative aestheticism of the Pelouse combined with its pioneering techniques set the stage for many other fine jewelers at the time. We especially love the convergence of form with the decorative artful design – as if the Pointillism painting style was embodied in a jewel.
Ruby weight approx. 4.00 carats total. Diamond weight approx. 2.00 carats total. Each earring measures approx. 0.70″ in diameter, with an approx height of 0.35″ off the ear. Earrings are currently for pierced ears, with clips for stability.
